Katie Allman of Kidl’-de’Divey Woolens has been hooking since 1991. A certified McGown Teacher offering classes in wide and fine cut rug hooking skilled in both fine and primitive techniques, she enjoys crewel patterns in all cuts and variety of wools and textures. Dianne Kelly, Gail Dufrense, Diane Stoffel, and Shirley Bloom are some of the teachers she has understudied.
With Shirley Bloom’s retirement from the rug hooking world, Katie invested in 40 years worth of hooking supplies and set up shop in her basement studio where she teaches classes. Katie offers bimonthly classes here at the Chairmaker. The cost of each class is $10, payable on the day of class. This fee covers instruction of your current project or optional class offered as well as use of the facility. She also teaches monthly classes in Norwalk and Wadsworth and offers retreats in Lakeside and Zoar, Ohio. Katie continues her own education at rug workshops and teacher’s workshops so she can offer students new ideas and techniques. She is addicted to dying wool and teaches a dye class here at the shop periodically.
Katie has been an L&D nurse for 26 years and currently resides in Ashland, Oh. with her husband and two children. We welcome you to join us for our bimonthly Hook-ins. For more information please contact Katie at 419-685-4490 or e-mail at
